Not really the kind of corner where I will walk at the weekend but it turns out that I work nearby, so I know a little bookstore that committed, militant anti-globalization that has high quality books on all subjects.
As there was hardly anyone, it allowed me to dedicate two books that I had not, and talk a bit with David B., notably the beautiful book that I dream of leaving for quite some years: a full "The Rise of Evil High." They well in the U.S.! This masterpiece of graphic-novel is released under the title "Epileptic".
In France, for now we must buy all 6 volumes.
But be careful, I do not want a full-rate: it takes a large format book (not the traditional comic book format), printed on beautiful paper (not frozen), like the integral "War of Alan" by Emmanuel Guibert is - besides being a masterpiece - a book of rare beauty.
The example of how not to be the complete Persepolis (Satrapi) which - because of its small size - not at all appropriate to the saga as told by David B. in "The Rise of Evil High" (the story of his epileptic brother) : Boards are complex, sometimes talkative, very worked, with full details. It is not apparent, while Satrapi's graphic design is much simpler.
Paradoxically, David B. is now less known to the general public and Marjane Satrapi ("Persepolis"), yet it is he who has trained when she arrived in France, and gave him wanted to tell his story in comics.
David B. is an important author, full of immense culture on everything related myths and legends, dreams, introspection. It also has - by his audacity graphics - the ability to transcend the medium rich what the 9th art, to invent new limits.
